An Indian smuggler was killed in a shootout with the BGB on the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh. A BGB member was also injured in the incident.
The incident took place at midnight on Monday (December 28) in the Suryapur Dumlikura area of upazila.
BGB Gobrakura camp commander Umar Farooq confirmed the matter.
He said that a Suryapur BOP BGB patrol team chased down the smugglers on Monday night. At this moment both sides fired. A member of the BGB was injured and an Indian smuggler was killed. However, his name is not yet known.
Haluaghat OC Mahmudul Hasan Police Station said the BGB pursued Indian smugglers when they entered Bangladesh on Monday night. They are in cahoots with the BGB. An Indian smuggler died.
However, the name and address of the deceased are not yet known. He also said that police were working at the scene.
