Hefazat demanded a judicial investigation into the death of Allama Shafi

The group has demanded a judicial investigation into the death of Amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, the founder of Hefazat-e-Islam.

Hefazat-e-Islam held a press conference at the National Press Club on Tuesday morning. There, Shafi’s eldest son, Maulana Yusuf bin Ahmad Shafi Al-Madani, made this demand.

Earlier on Friday, 313 academics demanded a judicial investigation into the murder of Allama Shafi by torture and mental torture.

Hefazat’s press conference made four demands on the government. The demands are-

1. The judicial investigation should reveal the mystery of the “unnatural death” of Allama Shah Amad Shafi and provide exemplary punishment for those involved.

2. The case presented by his family must be investigated and the real culprits must be identified and arrested immediately.

3. The safety of members of Allama Shafi’s family and his followers must be guaranteed. Those who threaten to drop the case must be identified and legal action taken.

4. Opponents of Ahmed Shafi must be eliminated from all religious and social circles.

Allama Ahmad Shafi died on September 17. Three months later, on December 16, his brother-in-law Mohammad Moin Uddin presented a case in a Chittagong court alleging his murder. Hefazat 37 people were charged. Hefazat’s Amir Junaid Babungari demanded the case be dropped at a press conference on Wednesday.
