The defendants in the case are Mohammad Lutful Haque, Former Director of the Islamic Foundation, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Former Chairman of the Mosque Council for Community Advancement, Mia Mohammad Yunus, Bandhujan Parishad Chief Secretary Tofazzal Hossain, former president of the Islamic Center for Social Welfare and Masjid Council of the Islamic Foundation. Among those charged, Sayedee is in jail. Abul Kalam Azad and Abdul Haq escaped. The other three defendants are out on bail.

On August 19, 2011, the National Revenue Board (NBR) filed another case against Maulana Sayedee for the tax evasion charge in the amount of Tk 57,48,612 by concealing an income of Tk 2,28,40,120.

When Sayedee appealed, the Appeals Division ruled on September 18, 2014 by majority. The sentence was reduced to death. Although the verdict was appealed, no change was made.
