His family has claimed that a young man died after being electrocuted while listening to music on headphones while charging his mobile phone in the Thanthaniya area of Bogra city. The accident occurred at his home on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Rakib Ahmed, 24, the son of Shahnoor Islam, owner of the Chittagong Noor Hotel in the Colony area of the city. Rakib used to study at an educational institution in the capital.
Rakib’s brother, Rabbi Ahmed, said that Rakib was listening to music on headphones as he lay at home with his mobile phone charged. He was electrocuted around 8:30 p.m. He was rescued after breaking the door and taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. The doctor in charge of the emergency department pronounced Rakib dead.
Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the hospital, said the young man died before he could be taken to the hospital. Family members said he was electrocuted to death. In response to a question, he said that it was not possible to know the real cause of death without an autopsy.
Abdul Aziz Mandal, deputy inspector of the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman medical outpost, said that Rakib’s body was turned over to his family on Saturday night as no one had filed a complaint.
