A strike is being observed at Jamalpur General Hospital to protest the attack on doctors and police torture. The program has been running since Sunday morning. The patient and his relatives are in a situation of extreme anguish. Doctors said the program would continue until the attackers were arrested and the Sadar police station was withdrawn.
Meanwhile, due to the strike, all government and private hospitals and clinics in the district, except the emergency department and the interdepartment of the hospital, are closed.
Karimon Nesha, 55, a resident of the Iqbalpur area, was beaten to death by her relatives on Friday afternoon after her relatives vandalized the emergency department and attacked doctors. In this incident, there were clashes between the doctors and their relatives on several occasions that afternoon.
Doctors said that despite being attacked by relatives, the police unfairly beat and insulted the doctors. The police beat eight doctors and took them to the police station. The attackers were quickly arrested and said the officer in charge of the Sadar Police Station (OC). The Swadhinata Medical Council (Swachib) and the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) have been on joint strike since this morning to demand the withdrawal of Rezaul Karim.
