Arsenal beat England 3-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. Alexandr Lakajet, Granit Zaka and Bukayo Saka each scored one goal. Chelsea’s only scorer is Tammy Abraham.
Arsenal savored victory in the League after seven games. The last time they beat Manchester United 1-0 was on November 1. In between, they lost five of the seven games.
Arsenal had a chance to advance in the first minute at home. Chicago Silva was unable to clear a header in Ekater Bayern’s cross D-box from the right side. However, Gabriel Martinelli was disappointed by hitting from outside the front of the six-yard box.
Chelsea did not score a goal in the thirteenth minute. Mason Mount’s free kick from the front of the D-box misses and hits the outside of the right post.
In the 34th minute, the hosts went ahead with a successful penalty shot from Lakajet. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty after Chelsea defender Rees James fouled Kieron Tierney in the defense area.
This is the first time since May 2006 that Arsenal have scored from the penalty spot against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Before the break, Zaka doubled the lead with a great free kick. His left-handed shot from the front of the D-box hits the ball into the net through the top corner of the right post onto the defensive wall. This is the first goal for this Swiss midfielder in the tournament.
Sakar scored a great goal in the 56th minute to make the score 3-0. The English midfielder’s shot from the right hit the goalkeeper’s head on a far post and caught the net.
The gap could have widened in the 65th minute. Goalkeeper Eduan Mandi returned a Martinelli shot from inside the area. Mohamed Elnani’s shot returned to the crossbar in the 64th minute.
Abraham closed the gap with five minutes to the end of the allotted time. The linesman first raised the offside flag, but decided to change the VAR.
Chelsea received a penalty for Mount Foul in additional time. But Georgino could not score a penalty, his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Bernard Leno.
Arsenal manager Arteta commented that the next three games of the big day are very important to understanding their position in the Premier League. At least his team got off to a great start by beating Chelsea.
Arsenal are 14th with 16 points from 15 games with five wins and two draws. Chelsea are in sixth place with 25 points in a match.
