Minu Haque, President of Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha, told bdnews24.com on Saturday night, “Jinnah has been receiving treatment in a hospital in the capital since December 22. She has been taken to ICU. Her daughter Bijri (actress Bijri Barkatullah) said, “The situation is very bad.”
Actress Bijri Barkatullah wrote in a Facebook post on the night that her mother Jinnah is admitted to the ICU, her condition is serious.
Dancer Mohammad Barkat Ullah, husband of Jinat Barkatullah, died on August 3 after contracting coronavirus. Although Jinnah was infected with the coronavirus at the time, he is no longer infected with the virus, Minu Haque said.
Jinat Barkatullah played an important role in the development of dance practice in the cultural movement of post-independence Bangladesh.
Mahfuzur Rahman, general secretary of Nrityashilpi Sangstha, said that Jinat Barkatullah’s dance journey began in the 1970s.

After graduating from the Department of Social Welfare at Dhaka University, Jinat Barkatullah joined the University’s Academy of Performing Arts. Later he joined the Shilpakala Academy as the director of the production department, which includes the department of music and dance. He worked there for 26 years.
Jinat Barkatullah began his acting career in 1980 with the BTV drama ‘Maria Amar Maria’. In that play, she appeared on screen in a skirt and trousers, sparking a storm of criticism in conservative society.
He later acted in various television dramas, including the popular series ‘Ghare Baire’, ‘Asthayi Nibas’, ‘Bara Bari’ and ‘Kotha Bola Maina’.
Jinat Barkatullah received the Shilpakala Academy Medal in 2016 for her contribution to the dance industry.
