Drivers and helpers attempted to rape a college student on a moving bus at Dirai in Sunamganj. At that moment, the student, a resident of the Dirai Municipal Headquarters, jumped out of the car to protect herself. The incident took place in the Sujanagar area of Dirai Madanpur Road on Saturday afternoon.
The locals rescued the injured college student and took her to the Dirai Upazila Health Complex. The hospital authorities sent the injured girl to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Upon receiving the news, the girl’s relatives and the police went to the hospital. The police stopped the bus.
Meanwhile, people blocked the Dirai police station at night demanding a fair trial. The lock continues until this report is written.
The girl’s uncle said she went to her sister’s home in the Sylhet area. Today his sister-in-law Ajit Das picked him up on a local bus called Fahad & Maisha Paribahan (Sylhet-J 11-0623). When the passengers got off one by one on the road, the car was empty at one point. Despite the fact that it is a local bus, the vehicle personnel refrained from picking up new passengers. The driver’s assistant tried to rape my niece. The niece came from the Sujanagar area and jumped out of the car.
Bidyut Das, an on-call doctor in the emergency department at Dirai Hospital, said the girl had head injuries. He was sent to Osmani Hospital in Sylhet.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Dirai Police Station Ashraful Islam said the driver-assistant fled leaving his vehicle at the Dirai bus stop. The car was impounded.
