The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, has said that many people think that Abahani means Awami League and Mohammedan means Anti-Awami League, but Badal Roy has shown that there is no politics in sports.

Obaidul Quader made the call at a meeting in memory of the late footballer Badal Roy on Saturday. He joined the meeting by videoconference from his residence.

Badal Roy was associated with Mohammedan from the beginning of his playing career, but was a soldier of the Bangabandhu ideology at heart, he said.

Asking young people for opportunities in sports, the secretary general of the Awami League said: “Otherwise, they may engage in antisocial activities, including drugs.”

At the memorial meeting, Quader called for eliminating the corrupt and giving opportunities to the honest and disinterested in politics, and said there was no commitment from the corrupt.

He regretted that some people are using sports federations to change their destiny for personal gain, to get out of it, to keep sports federations free from corruption.

The member of the Advisory Council of the Awami League, Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, the Secretary of Youth and Sports, Harnoor Rashid, and leaders of various federations and sports journalists, players and organizers were present at the meeting organized by the sports family.
