The Gopalganj fire service and Khulna divers rescued the body of a young workshop worker named Morad Sheikh (20) 15 hours after his disappearance. Divers rescued the body under the Ulpur Bridge on the Madhumati River in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila around 10:15 am on Saturday.
Morad Sheikh is the son of Khoka Mia Sheikh from the village of Gobra in Sadar upazila. He was an employee of Russell Mollah’s workshop in Ulpur Bazar. Russell Mollah is the son of Jahangir Mollah from Vidyadhar village in the Nizamkandi junction of Kashiani upazila.
According to Jahangir Mollah, his son Russell Mollah, Morad Sheikh and other Yanur workers were going to Vidyadhar village from Ulpur Bazar by motorcycle around 8:45 pm on Friday. Upon reaching the Ulpur bridge, there was a problem with the motorcycle. So Russell left the two of them on the bridge and went to Ulpur market to fix the motorcycle. At that moment, Morad fell over the bridge railing and fell into the water. Upon receiving the news, the police and firefighters went to the scene and carried out the rescue operation. However, it was not found. A team of divers left Khulna this morning and recovered her body around 10 a.m.
Arif Hossain, a senior officer at the Gopalganj Fire Service Station, said a three-member dive team arrived from Khulna this morning to conduct the rescue operation. They recovered Morad’s body.
