A fight has broken out in West Bengal over allegations that part of the land adjacent to the home of Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen in Santiniketan, West Bengal, India, belonged to Visva-Bharati. Whose wave has crashed in the courtyard of politics. Discussions and criticisms have started in various areas of politics.

Amartya Sen, a Nobel laureate economist, is currently being argued in the West Bengal political arena against the central government of India. Perhaps that is why such accusations have been made about him.

According to the Indian Express, Amartya Sen’s home in Santiniketan has recently been invaded by university authorities. Visva-Bharati authorities claim that the size of the land, as well as part of Visva-Bharati’s own land between the two leased lands, is within the limits of the “west”. Other accusations by the Visva-Bharati authorities are that Amartya Sen was briefed on the matter when Rajatkant Roy was the vice chancellor. However, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen took no action. Naturally, the debate has begun.

Meanwhile, West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, has written a letter to Amartya Sen saying that part of his land belongs to Visva-Bharati. “I am shocked and dismayed to learn of the controversy that is raging in the West,” he wrote.

Mamata Banerjee mocked the central government of India, saying: ‘The new invaders of Visva-Bharati have made unsubstantiated accusations about his family’s property. Ideologically, Amartya Sen has spoken out against the BJP and the people of Bengal will not accept what they want against him. Mamata said she would protest the incident during a meeting in Bolpur on December 29.

Amartya Sen said in Mamata Banerjee’s letter that he was happy. He said, “I have not received any letter from Visva-Bharati about it yet. If you get a letter, you can complain about the size of the lot. However, the matter has already been reported to the lawyer.

Amartya Sen said: ‘The house was built in 1940. It amazes me how such accusations were made 60 years later.

He also asked why Visva-Bharati suddenly started telling ‘lies’ like this.

Amartya Sen said: ‘My father built a house on leased land. Then he bought the surrounding land. However, if Visva-Bharati does not reveal the whole matter first, nothing will be understood.

Without naming the current Vice Chancellor of Visva-Bharati, Bidyut Chakraborty, Amartya Sen said: ‘The Vice Chancellor is not working properly. In the current situation, the central government wants to increase its influence over the state government.

Amartya Sen reported that he was born in Santiniketan. He also studied in Santiniketan and Dhaka. Rabindranath and Nazrul are in his thoughts. Therefore, you cannot choose any community.

Amartya Sen’s (mother’s father) grandfather, the Sanskrit scholar, Kshitimohan Sen, was the vice chancellor of Visva-Bharati. Amartya Sen’s father, Ashutosh Sen, was a professor at Dhaka University. Amartya Sen’s father emigrated to West Bengal with his family in 1945.
