Khagrachari: The Bailey Bridge in the Chaumahani area of the Dighinala-Merung Highway in Khagrachari was loaded with two trucks carrying tree trunks. Three people were injured at that time.
Their identities were not found.
Apart from the Merung area of Dighinala upazila of the district, road communication with Langadu upazila of Rangamati has been cut off due to the Bailey Bridge. However, the carriage of more than five tons was prohibited on the bridge.
The incident took place around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (December 27). 
Locals said two trucks loaded with tree trunks climbed the Bailey Bridge at the same time in the morning and broke the rhyme due to excess weight. The two trucks were coming from Merung towards Khagrachari. Another Mahindra car was also involved in the accident. 3 passengers were injured.
Amir Hossain, a local resident, told banglanews that the bridge was unstable. The weight of the two trucks loaded with tree trunks will be about 50 tons. Where no more than 5 tons can be transported, if two trucks are lifted at the same time, it will break.
Shakir Mohammad Faisal, executive engineer of the Khagrachhari Roads and Expressways Department, told banglanews that highway department staff rushed to the scene after receiving the news. However, it may take a few days for the bridge to open.
