The funeral of Akhm Jahangir Hossain, a four-time deputy of the parliament of the Patuakhali-3 constituency (Dashmina-Galachipa), a former Minister of State for Textiles and one of the members of the Central Executive Committee of the Awami League, was held. According to party and family sources, the deceased was taken to Dashmina by helicopter after paying his last respects at his Priyangan Housing residence at Mirpur-1 Mazar Road in Dhaka. His body was buried next to his parents’ grave after the third janaza on the Galachipa High School grounds and the fourth janaza on the Badasar Char-Chandrail Mohammadia Hafezia Madrasa grounds.
He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at 3.15pm on Thursday afternoon. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, as well as many family members and fans.

He became involved in BCL politics while studying at the Galachipa Model Government High School prior to independence. Later he was admitted to Dhaka University and joined the Central Chhatra League. He was a prominent fighter in protest against the brutal murder of the Father of the Nation in 1975.
He was elected general secretary of the central student league in 1981-83. Later he joined the Awami League and became the secretary of the joint party office. She was elected Member of Parliament for the Patuakhali-3 (Galachipa-Dashmina) constituency in the 1991, 1996 and 2001 national elections. When the Awami League came to power in 1996, she was appointed as Minister of State for Textiles in the government led by Sheikh Hasina.
He was also a member of several permanent parliamentary committees. He was elected a Member of Parliament for the fourth time in the 2014 elections.
