The film’s director and an actor have been jailed after being arrested for allegedly presenting derogatory dialogue to police in a scene from the premiere of ‘Nawab LLB’. They are director Ananya Mamun and actor Shaheen Mridha. They were arrested in the Mirpur area by the Cyber and Special Crimes Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police at midnight on Thursday (December 24). When they were brought to court on Friday (December 25), the judge ordered that they be sent to jail.
According to the police, Nasirul Amin, an inspector with the Cyber and Special Crimes Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detectives, presented a case (No. 21) to the Ramna Police Station. Director Ananya Mamun, actor Shaheen Mridha and film actress Sperchia have been named in the case. Police officers say two suspects in the case have been arrested. Another defendant, the film actress Sperchia, is wanted for arrest.
Fazlur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Police’s Cyber and Special Crimes Division, confirmed the matter to the Bengali Tribune. In one of the scenes in the film, a raped woman is seen questioning the person playing the police officer in obscene and offensive language. On the one hand, it has tarnished the image of the police and on the other, it has insulted women. A case has been registered in this regard and the director and an actor of the film have been arrested.
The account of the case said: “A video released on social media shows a woman who was raped when she went to the police station and filed a complaint. The police showed interrogation and questions and answers.” The description and the questioning of the rape have been made in highly offensive language. Which is the opposite of healthy entertainment, since it is not possible to sit together with the family and it will create a negative perception about the police among the public. This video is highly defamatory to the Bangladesh Police and through the video, the Bangladesh Police Force has presented itself in a very negative way in front of the public.
Recently, half of the movie ‘Nawab LLB’ directed by Ananya Mamun has been released in an online application called ‘I Theater’. The film was supposed to be released in its entirety on January 1. But a scene from the published part sparked criticism on social media that police were questioning a raped woman. When that part of the interrogation went viral on various social media groups, people started making negative comments about the police. In view of this, the police have filed a case in this regard.
The film stars Shakib Khan, Mahiya Mahi, Archita Sperchia, Shahiduzzaman Selim, and Shaheen Mridha in the lead roles. The film is produced by Celebrity Productions.

This information has been obtained from the General Registry (GR) section of the corresponding police station of the court.
The sources said that the investigating officer on the case, Detective Police Inspector Abul Kalam Azad, introduced the two defendants in court and asked them to be kept in jail until the end of the investigation. After his appeal, the judge ordered the imprisonment of the accused.
