Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has demanded the removal of Kushtia Police Superintendent (SP) SM Tanvir Arafat. Hefazat’s central organizing secretary, Maulana Azizul Haque, made the demand in a statement sent to the Islamabad media on Friday.
Maulana Azizul Haque condemned and protested the recent statement of the Police Superintendent. Police Superintendent Tanvir Arafat addressed a protest rally at Kaya College in Kumarkhali on December 21 against the vandalism of the sculpture of the revolutionary Bagha Jatin in Kushtia. For those who want to ask questions about Bangabandhu and the constitution of Bangladesh, he proposed three alternatives at the meeting.
In the proposal, the Police Superintendent said: ‘First, I will break my arm if I do the opposite, I will have to go to jail. Two, he will remain completely silent, he will not be able to ask any questions about the independence of the country and the history of Bangabandhu. Three, if you don’t like Bangladesh, you can go to your beloved Pakistan. ‘
Maulana Azizul Haque Islamabadi said: “The Kushtia SP is threatening to break the hand of the so-called fundamentalists wearing the official uniform. Attempts are being made to sabotage sculpture and destroy political advantage by imposing responsibility on scholars.
SM Tanvir Arafat, demanding the dismissal of the superintendent of the communiqué, “the police or public servants of the Republic.” They are dedicated to maintaining security and law and order for the people. It is not the responsibility of the police to judge or punish. The responsibility of the police is to prevent crime and arrest the guilty and send them to court. But the police cannot break the hand of any criminal, nor can they imprison any criminal without trial. We call on the government to immediately dismiss the SP.
