A housewife named Taslima Khatun (25) committed suicide in Sherpur Upazila de Bogra after she could not bear the adultery and torture of her husband Bhabhi.
The deceased were identified as Taslima Khatun, daughter of Tashir Uddin from the Baraitali village under the union of Khanpur of Sherpur upazila and wife of Likhan Miah, a Saudi expatriate from the Gopalnagar village under the union of Bhandarbari from the upazila.
His relatives tried to bury Taslima’s body without informing the police. 21 hours after her death, around 4 p.m. Friday, Taslima’s body was sent to the Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy on her father’s home.
According to local sources, Likhan Mia, son of Khoka Mia from Gopalnagar village in Dhunat upazila, married Taslima Khatun, daughter of Tashir Uddin from Baraitali village in Khanpur, union of Sherpur upazila, about six years ago. Likhan Mia used to work in Saudi Arabia. She has been at her home in the village for two months on leave from work. In this situation, Taslima can understand the foreign love issue of writing with a neighbor.
At one stage in the dispute between husband and wife, Taslima was tortured by her husband around noon on Thursday. Unable to bear the foreign love and torture of her husband, she poisoned her husband’s house. He was later rescued and taken to the Dhunat Upazila Health Complex. From there, Taslima was transferred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital by the emergency department doctor.
Taslima died on the way to the Bogra hospital around 7 p.m. Thursday. Later, Taslima’s body was taken to her father’s house in the village of Baraitali. It was decided to bury Taslima’s body on the condition that five lakh rupees be written in the name of Taslima’s father and four bighas of earth in the name of Taslima’s son.
When asked about this, Likhan Mia said: ‘Taslima has committed suicide due to family disturbances. Thinking about my son’s future, I was told to write five lakhs of rupees and four bighas of earth.
Ripon Kumar, a doctor in the emergency department of the Dhunat Upazila Health Complex, said that her relatives took Taslima to the Health Complex. But as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Sherpur Police Inspector (investigation) Abul Kalam Azad said Taslima’s family had not informed the police about her suicide. However, a police officer was dispatched to the scene to take legal action. It will take the necessary measures subject to investigation.
