Dhaka: Photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajal was released after long imprisonment. As soon as he was released from Keraniganj Central Jail, he hugged his son Manoram Palak and cried.
He was released from Dhaka Central Jail around 11:15 pm on Friday (December 25). At that time, relatives and family members were present.

In early December 16, the High Court granted bail to photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol in a case brought under the Digital Security Law at the Hazaribagh and Kamrangirchar police stations. Then there was no obstacle to his release.
The journalist was also released on bail from the High Court in a case brought by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on November 24. As a result, there is no obstacle to his release on bail now, attorney Jyortimoy Barua said.
The case was registered under the Digital Security Law against 32 people, including Kajol, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka on March 9. The case was brought by Saifuzzaman Shekhar, a deputy from the ruling party of the Magura-1 constituency.
Then, on March 10 and 11, two more cases were filed under the Digital Security Law at the police stations in the capital, Hazaribagh and Kamrangirchar.
Journalist Shafiqul Islam Kajal disappeared after leaving the ‘Pakshakal’ office in Hatirpul on the night of March 10 after the case was closed. Then, on March 11, his wife Julia Ferdousi Nayan filed a general diary at the Chawkbazar police station.
Later on the night of March 17, Kajal was kidnapped and his son Manoram Palak filed a case at the Chawkbazar police station.
The Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) arrested Shafiqul Islam Kajal, photojournalist and editor of the Pakshakal daily, accused of infiltrating the Indian border from Sadipur at Benapole in Jessore on the night of May 2, 53 days after his disappearance from Dhaka .
