Despite the 2-0 victory over Granada, Real Madrid is still on the Spanish League points table.
Both teams add 32 points after the victory on Wednesday night at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium. However, Real have played two more games than Atlético.
Karim Benzema doubled the lead at the end after Casimiro led the team.
Although Real kept the ball for more than two-thirds of the first half, most of their attacks were unstoppable. Even though they took nine shots on target before the break, they couldn’t think much about the opponent’s defense or goalkeeper. Two good attacks were added in the overtime before the break, but there was no sure chance.
Real were also under a lot of pressure early in the second half as they fainted in front of their opponents’ offensive football. Meanwhile, they got three guaranteed chances in the 55th minute.
Finally, in the 56th minute, the match was scored. Casimiro led the team with a big jump from the left to an extended cross in Asensio’s six-meter area.
In the end, the Real players looked a bit tired. Visitors increase the pressure on that opportunity. However, they were unable to create more guaranteed opportunities.
Granada scored the second goal in the third minute of added time. Benzema secured the victory with a left-footed shot from outside the area.
Real in the league standings with 10 wins from 15 games and 32 points from two draws. Atlético leads the list with 13 points.
Real Sociedad is in third place with 27 points from 16 games. Villarreal at number four with equal points in 15 games.
Barcelona is fifth with 24 points from 14 games.
