- The speculation began with the absence of four ministers at the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
- The list of ministers absent from the meeting included Forest Minister Rajiv Banerjee, Tourism Minister Gautam Dev, North Bengal Development Minister Rabindranath Ghosh, and Fisheries Minister Chandranath Sinha.
- Rajiv himself dispelled much of that speculation by attending the assembly session that day.
In recent days various party programs have been avoided. Bangajanani was not present at the ceremony. So, according to many, Rajiv is following the path of Shuvendu. However, grassroots leaders have repeatedly said that Rajiv is in the party. That day, he himself said: ‘I have no distance from the team. Many are talking a lot, but yesterday I could not go to the cabinet meeting for family reasons. I put it in the right place. So I am not in any speculation, not in imagination.
Rajib had opened his mouth more than once a few days ago for not having received due recognition and respect for his work. Some posters with his photo were also read in various places in the state. The party’s secretary general and education minister, Perth Chatterjee, met with him twice to clear up the mess. However, neither of them spoke about what was discussed or what was the outcome of the discussion, saying it was an ‘internal party matter’. When Rajiv Banerjee was called on his mobile phone to get his response to his absence at the cabinet meeting yesterday, he did not answer the phone or respond to an SMS.

However, Firhad Hakim has already said about Rajiv, ‘Rajiv is doing well as a minister. He is a good boy. Like our little brother. If you want to live in a big world, there can be a lot of pride. When Mamata Banerjee is upside down, there is no reason to worry. He is looking at everything. It will do good to all. Although a section of the Trinamool Congress says that Rajiv has been given important responsibilities in the party at different times, despite the fact that he has been transferred from the Department of Irrigation to the Department of Forests. Important responsibilities have also been given to the district. He is now in charge of a part of Alipurduar. Although he hasn’t visited North Bengal much in recent times, this is the opinion of one section of the base. Nevertheless, the maximum direction of the Trinamool seemed quite relieved by the words of Rajiv.
