External buses will not be able to enter Dhaka as a result of the implementation of the franchise: DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, said that four suburban areas of the Dhaka metropolis have initially been selected as inter-district bus terminals.

Sheikh Taposh told the media after inspecting the Batulia area, one of the 10 sites proposed for the inter-district bus terminal and the depot by the technical committee to the Bus Route Rationalization Committee.

At the time, DSCC Mayor Sheikh Taposh said: “We have already taken the initiative to streamline the bus route.” Through the Dhaka Transportation Coordinating Authority, we want to have the entire public transportation system under control. We already started working. In this context, we have decided at the last meeting, we have narrowed down the list of the ten places selected for the interdistrict bus terminal. We believe that a total of four may be acceptable. In this context, today we have come to Batulia for a field visit.

When asked to see the effectiveness of the sites, DSCC Mayor Attorney Sheikh Taposh said: “After Batulia, we will visit Hemayetpur in Savar, Tegharia in Keraniganj and Kanchpur.” After visiting these four places, we have held a meeting of the Bus Routes Rationalization Committee next January. We will decide there. After the decision, we will send the ministry which terminals can be configured. Our goal is to reduce the pressure on the city of Dhaka.

Noting that interdistrict public transport does not enter the city from outside, DSCC Mayor Sheikh Taposh further said: “We note that city bus terminals such as Mohakhali, Saidabad, Gabtali, interdistrict buses they use those terminals. ” The city bus terminal is not efficient for us. This means that city buses everywhere are stopped on the road causing traffic jams and creating a chaotic environment. All in all, this is our activity to bring a discipline to public transport as a whole. Our activities are ongoing so that we can draw up a defined outline over the next year.

Meanwhile, as a result of the implementation of the bus route franchise, external buses will not be able to enter the city of Dhaka, said Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam.

Atiqul Islam, mayor of Northern City Corporation, said city buses would circulate within the city and inter-district buses would stop at a specific location. With the implementation of the bus route franchise, buses from out of town will not be able to enter Dhaka. Because now there is competition between city buses and interdistrict buses. But our traffic system has completely collapsed and traffic jams are being attempted. Therefore, urban buses have to circulate within the city and within a certain route.

DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said: “We have decided in the last meeting to go from Ghatarchar to Motijheel in Dhaka, where there are more than 180 buses and more than 29 proprietary buses. But we have taken the initiative to incorporate it into a company .

DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said that bus owners and workers were also cooperating in the implementation of the initiative. “We all want to put order,” he said. So, to tidy up, the city bus will run along the city’s franchise route. In view of this, we will start the first one (bus route franchise) on the Ghatarchar-Motijheel route from April 1.

During the visit, the executive director of Dhaka South City Corporation, ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, the executive director of Dhaka North City Corporation, Selim Reza, the executive director of the Dhaka Transportation Coordination Authority, Khandaker Rakibur Rahman, the chief engineer from South City Corporation, Rezaur Rahman, among others. Senior officials and leaders of the Bus Owners Association were present.
