At the US embassy in Dhaka on December 2, security guard Zakir Hossain Mollah himself threw the bag with a cup wrapped in black tape and a box of matches to the security guard. The investigation of the Police Against Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) has revealed that he did it to obtain a reward from the authorities for his performance.

He said the court had sent Zakir to jail after he was arrested under Section 54 and brought before the court.

At around 3:30 p.m. on December 2, police found a mug wrapped in black tape, a box of matches, wire, and a knife after examining a suspicious bag thrown at a security guard at the US embassy. Then the CTTC unit’s bomb deactivation unit goes there.
CTTC is responsible for investigating the incident. Then they found the owner of the bag.
Looking at the images from the closed circuit camera installed in the embassy, you can see the image of simply throwing the bag. Then the investigation team saw that the bag came from the side of the security guard’s room. A recording shows security guards opening windows and removing curtains. The bag was then seen to be thrown from there. Zakir was on duty there at the time.
During questioning, Zakir admitted his involvement in the incident.
Zakir told police that he did the stunt in hopes of a reward. He had previously recovered a cocktail from the embassy area during the political unrest. He was awarded for this work in 2015. A security agency provides security for the US embassy. Zakir is an employee of that organization. He has been working here for 18 years. One of her sons also works as an office assistant at the embassy.
