In the port of Narayanganj, after killing the Arafat boy by breaking his head with a brick, Ripon left his body in a pond and went looking for him with his family. He even exchanged news of missing persons in different places for two days to find Arafat.
The sensational murder case has been turned over to the Detective Section (DB) of the Narayanganj District Police. The Police Superintendent turned the case over to DB Police on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Narayanganj Chief Judge Farzana Ferdous on Wednesday granted a four-day pretrial detention after the main defendant in the case surrendered to the Ripon court.
Magistrate on Tuesday. Ripon surrendered to Milton Meyer’s court. Investigating officer SI Sirajdaullah asked the court for a 7-day pre-trial detention. After the hearing in the presence of the defendant and the plaintiff’s lawyers, the court placed Ripon in police custody and granted him a four-day pre-trial detention for questioning.
SI Sirajdaullah said that Ripon surrendered to the Narayanganj Magistrates Court three days after the case was closed. The court granted Narayanganj Chief Justice Farzana Ferdous a four-day pre-trial detention on Wednesday morning.
Narayanganj Police Superintendent Arafat’s murder case was handed over to the Narayanganj Detective Division (DB) and the DB Atul inspector was tasked with investigating the case.
The locals said that Ripon Mia, the son of Islam Mia from the same village, took 11-year-old Arafat, a schoolboy, the son of Rafiqul Islam Mona from the village of Lausar, a former member of Madanpur UP in Bandar Upazila, to a Victory Day concert around 9pm on Tuesday. That night, he took Arafat to the old school building next to his house and broke his head with a brick.
After being strangled, the body was thrown into a pond and Ripon went out with the family to search for Arafat. Ripon recorded the missing news for two days to find Arafat. Meanwhile, Arafat’s body floated in the pond on Friday, three days after they left it. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for an autopsy. Ripon also attended Arafat’s funeral.
At that time, more than 1,500 people who participated in the janaza protested demanding justice. Ripon Mia and her family fled in fear after the janaza. After fleeing, Arafat’s mother filed a lawsuit against Ripon on suspicion of being involved in the killings.
