Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The lawyers are protesting by blocking the folding door of the CMM court demanding the removal of Asaduzzaman Noor. They are protesting the removal of a magistrate for allegedly keeping a lawyer locked up for two hours.

At around 9:30 am on Wednesday (December 23), a group of disgruntled lawyers locked everyone in the courtroom of Dhaka’s additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Asaduzzaman Noor.

The Magistrates Court of the Metropolitan Police Chief began the protest at the closed front door. The protest continued until this report was written. They shouted slogans demanding the removal of the judge. The CMM court trial is closed. Additional police officers have been deployed in front of the court.

Earlier Tuesday, the aggrieved lawyer had submitted a petition to the General Secretary of the Dhaka Bar Association alleging that he was locked up. He wants a fair trial for this incident.

The lawyer’s name is Rubel Ahmed Bhuna. “I went to court on Tuesday to handle the case,” he said in the application. The judge said he would appear in court at 10:30 am. But since the judge didn’t get up even at 11 o’clock, I want to know about the presenter. When the court process started later, the judge did not hear my case and asked me to come later. Later he locked me up for two hours and told me to revoke my certificate and tell all the magistrates not to hear my case. I feel extremely humiliated and demand a fair trial.
