Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered that rent be deducted from the salaries of officers and employees, even if they are not in assigned government houses.

The prime minister said that government officials should stay in the houses made for them. If there is no officer there with the home assignment, that officer will not receive the home rental subsidy.

He gave the directive at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday.

The Secretary of the Planning Ministry, Asadul Islam, told reporters after the ECNEC meeting. He said there are designated homes for government officials. Houses have also been built for teachers, doctors and other officials and employees. But it turns out they don’t live in those houses. As a result of the increase in government wages, the rent for the house is less than the current rent. As a result, they are left out. For this, houses built with government money are not used. It’s ruined.

The secretary said that for this, the Prime Minister has said at the ECNEC meeting that those in whose name the houses will be assigned must remain in those houses. Otherwise, they will not receive the rental subsidy that they receive. The Prime Minister has ordered action to be taken in this regard.
