US President Donald Trump has said that China is behind the cyberattacks in the United States, not Russia.
He made the comments without any evidence, despite objections from his secretary of state and other senior officials.
According to The Independent, Trump initially said the attack was carried out from Russia. But this time, he says, China may have done it too, and the media should think more about this possibility.
However, Trump did not present any clear evidence in this regard.
Recently, there have been attempts to launch cyberattacks against various governments and major non-governmental organizations in the United States. The US Department of Energy also confirmed the cyber attack on Thursday after concerns were raised in various quarters about the attacks. The group called the attack the largest cyber attack in American history.
“We can clearly say that Russia has something to do with this,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview on Friday.
He did not elaborate on how Moscow was involved in the attack.
Russia has denied the allegations in a statement issued on Friday stating that “similar and unfounded allegations have been made about Russian intelligence more than once.
