A worker has died after falling into the belt of a factory machine in the Kunia Targach area of Gazipur City Corporation. The incident took place at the Liz Complex Limited factory around 8.30pm on Saturday.
The worker’s name is Emratun Mia (30). He is the son of Ala Uddin from the Ghanergaon area of the Katiadi Police Station in Kishoreganj.
According to police sources, Emratun Mia used to live in Abdur Rahim’s house in the Kunia Targach area of Gazipur. From there he worked as a washing machine operator in the factory of Liz Complex Limited. Last night he went to work at the factory. Not seeing him next to the washing machine, the operator of the next machine kept looking for him. At one stage in the search, he saw Emratun lying next to the machine. Later he was taken to Tayrunnesa Memorial Medical College Hospital. The doctor declared him dead.
Police say the victim had wound marks on his neck and head. Initially, Emratun is believed to have slipped and fell on the machine belt while trying to start the machine.
Gachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Kazi Ismail Hossain said the matter was under investigation.
