Tulkalam incidents have occurred in several centers during the written test of registration of lawyers. About 13,000 candidates participated in 9 centers in Dhaka from 9am on Saturday. But after having the question papers in hand, the examinees got angry. Many boycotted the test and left the center. The students say that this time the questionnaire has become very “difficult”. Also, the questions came from outside the exam program. 10 percent of the examinees will not pass.
The question has become unusually difficult as examinees complained that due to the crown outbreak, they did not take the written exam, they only demanded to obtain the lawyer’s certificate through Vivar. Some complained that no questions were asked from the prescribed book.
He was seen at the Mahanagar Mahila University Center in Old Dhaka around 9:15 am, the examinees from all the wards started screaming at first. Exit the room at one point. This caused panic in the center. A similar incident took place at Mohammadpur Government School and College. The test center was also vandalized there.
Outraged candidates tore each other’s test books. At this time they were seen giving different slogans. Several of the protesting students were arrested, a source said. At the Mohammadpur Government College and University Center, many of the Bar Association’s written examinations were found to be broken.
On condition of anonymity, a Patuakhali examinee said that some students snatched the exam books from others, including himself, claiming that the exam questions were difficult. Later he picked up the book from the floor and handed it to the magistrate. He was able to write the answers to two questions in 1 hour. He is worried about the future.
The same situation has been seen at BCSIR High School. Two hours after the exam, there were riots and, in addition, Mohammadpur Central College was also vandalized.
When the exam began at the Dhaka Metropolitan Women’s College in Laxmibazar, some students initially complained that the question was not correct. So many joined them. In a moment they got up from their seats. When the test was over, the commotion began. At this time some candidates tried to take the test but the rest discouraged them. They dragged the test takers’ books and left.
The general students complained that a group of candidates was already agitating to cancel the written test of the Bar Association and demand the certificate only through the oral test. Students who participated in the test said they had carried out the attack, however they were also joined by some examinees.
They expressed their disgust that the test was conducted without proper security measures.
One of the candidates, who did not want to be named, said: “The questions asked by the Bar Association do not fit any of the criteria. It was no doubt. There can be no such question in the examination of the judiciary. So we left without trying. Some students wanted to take the test but the rest took them out. Now the students are standing outside the hall.
According to the source, those who have had their exam books taken away have been asked to present a GD at the police station. They have been told to act later.
To obtain the lawyer’s certificate in the Bangladesh Bar Association, it is necessary to pass an objective, written and oral exam. Once students pass any of the three steps, they have the opportunity to participate in the next test for the second and last time. However, if they fail the second time, they must re-participate in the test from the beginning.
According to him, out of 34,000 students in 2017, 3,590 students who dropped out for the second and last time in the written test and out of 80,000 lawyers in training in 2020, 8,084 students who passed the impersonal test, a total of 12,656 candidates are participating in the written test this time.
