Forty-two prominent citizens of the country have requested the formation of a Supreme Judicial Council against the Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC) and the Electoral Commissioners. They appealed to the president on December 14, alleging financial irregularities, corruption and serious misconduct related to the election. He also requested a meeting with the President to discuss the matter directly.

Their accusations include taking more than Tk 2 crore as special speakers by election commissioners, corruption of Tk 4 crore 7 lakh in the name of staffing, illegal use of three vehicles and irregularities in the purchase of EVM. Apart from this, the irregularities in the elections of the eleventh Jatiya Sangsad, North Dhaka, South Dhaka, Gazipur, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Barisal City Corporation are also included in the misconduct. In the letter, they requested the formation of a Supreme Council of the Judiciary in accordance with article 96 of the Constitution.
