A second-year student from the Department of Anthropology at Rajshahi University (UK) committed suicide by hanging himself. His name is Devajyoti Basak Perth. The cause of his death is unknown.
Perth committed suicide at 5:30 am on Saturday (December 19).
Confirming the matter, Parthu’s friend Shuvo, a student at Barisal Government College, said that Perth committed suicide by hanging himself in his own home around 5 a.m. today. Later in the morning, his family found him hanged and took him to the Patuakhali Government Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
He said Parthar’s body was later kept in the morgue and cremated alongside him. Their last rites will take place there.
Perth lived with his family in Patuakhali.
Professor Bakhtiyar Ahmed, Chairman of the University’s Department of Anthropology, said: We are sorry. We did not have the opportunity to change this emotional decision of Parthar. It’s a shame as a teacher. ‘
Addressing the students, he said: “Each student will remember that they are entitled to the mental shelter of the department teachers in the event of any mental disaster. In any delicate situation, please speak to any teacher once. ‘
He expressed his deepest condolences to Parthar’s grieving parents and family.
