Another bomb weighing 250 kg was found at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The general purpose bomb (GP) is being recovered and brought to Tangail for deactivation.
The bomb was recovered from the third terminal under construction at the airport on Saturday morning. Three bombs were recovered. Air Force experts fear there are more bombs.
Nur Islam, deputy director of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that a bomb disposal team trained by the Bangladesh Bangabandhu Air Force Base rushed to the scene with modern equipment and defused the bomb. The bomb was taken to a safe place with the necessary precautions to destroy it.
It is worth mentioning that on December 9, a cylindrical bomb was recovered from the airport’s third terminal under construction. The cylinder shaped bomb weighing 250 kg was recovered while excavating. During the stacking of the terminal construction work, workers saw a cylinder-shaped bomb about 10 feet deep in the ground. The bomb was defused on the campus of the Telki Air Force Training Center (Firing Range) in Madhupur Forest, Tangail.
Later, on December 15, another 250 kg bomb was found in the airport’s third terminal under construction. While working on the third pile at the airport, workers found the cylinder-shaped bomb 10 feet below the ground. Upon hearing the news, the Air Force Bomb Disposal Team went to the scene and deactivated it and took it to the Telki Air Force Shooting Training Center in Madhupur Forest, Tangail in the afternoon. The next morning the bomb exploded. The Madhupur forest area was shaken.
