Two South African cricketers have been declared positive for the two-test series against Sri Lanka. Cricket South Africa (CSA) was finally forced to call up three new players as an alternative.
The South African team will enter the biosecurity zone on Saturday for the series of two tests that will begin with the Boxing Day test at Centurion, before the Corona test results were positive on Friday (December 16). “These two players are no longer part of the test team and now have to comply with the Covid-19 hygiene rules and isolate themselves without delay,” the CSA said in a statement.
CSA did not say which two players were affected by the coronation. However, the selectors have called up three people as their replacements. They are hitter Reynolds von Tonder and closer Lutho Sipamla and off-roader Dwayne Pretorius, awaiting their testing debut.
Former South Africa U-19 captain Fon Tonder, 22, is in good shape in the four-day national competition. He has scored 704 runs at a 6.11 average with a double century. Sipamla previously played white ball cricket, but was the first to be called up for the test team. Pretorius, who has three test experiences, has yet to recover from a hamstring injury.
The new Kovid-19 infection has become a problem in South Africa. Earlier this month, England, fearful of the biosecurity zone, returned without playing an ODI series. The Sri Lankan Proteas players are in tension over the news of the coronation. His real concern is the UK tour of Sri Lanka. The England team will come to Sri Lanka to play two tests a week after the end of the second test in Johannesburg on January 3. That series is also inexpensive for them.
South Africa Test Team: Quinton de Kock (captain), Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis, Buran Hendricks, Dean Elgar, Keshab Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Rasi von der Dussen, Sarel Arbin, Anrikh Norr,, Keegan Petersen, Kyle Verrain, Miguel Pretorius, Dwayne Pretorius, Lutho Sipamla, Reinard von Tonder.
