The body of the young man was found in the building under construction.The half-dead body of a young man named Arup (28) Karmakar has been recovered from the subsoil of a building under construction in Rajganj in the city of Comilla. On Friday (December 16) evening, the police recovered the young man’s body from the frozen water inside the underground of the Razzak Tower under construction in Rajganj Bajrapur.

Arup Karmakar is the son of Dhananjay Karmakar from Bajrapur in the city. Police believe the young man took drugs and drowned.

In admitting to drug use, Arup Karmakar’s wife Rekha Karmakar said that her husband had been missing for 5-6 days. He said that Arup used to take drugs regularly.

The Chawkbazar police outpost, ASI said. Jamal Uddin said authorities at the Razzak Tower under construction informed police after seeing human-like objects. I came to the place to investigate. When I arrived, I saw an object like a doll floating in the frozen water below ground. When struck with a stick, the stench of the body spreads. Then I realized that the object floating in the water was a human body.

ASI Jamal Uddin further said that the young man had been missing for 5-6 days, but that his family did not file GD or report it to the police. The relatives did not want anyone to help them.

Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station OC Anwarul Haque said the young man was initially believed to have fallen into standing water while taking drugs in a building under construction. However, the true cause of death will come to light in the police investigation, he said.
