Complaint by the first claimant wife Sufia Khatun

Abdur Rahman Badi, a controversial former Ukhia-Teknaf MP in Cox’s Bazar, has again become the talk of the country after a young man named Ishaq filed a complaint in court claiming that his father was not a MP. The unknown story of the defendant in the case has begun to come to light.

Meanwhile, Badi had forcibly married his secretly married wife to a local bricklayer (construction worker) after learning that Ishaq, who was at the door of the court, was pregnant, the mother of the alleged plaintiff Ishaq and Badir’s first wife, the plaintiff Sufia Khatun.

Sufia claims that she is the first wife of former MP Badir. Abdur Rahman Badi secretly married her on April 5, 1992 while she was taking refuge in Badi’s home for security reasons. Later, when the matter came to light among his relatives, he forcibly married Nurul Islam, a local construction worker with their unborn son.

Her husband Badi and her father-in-law Ezhar Mia aka Ezhar Company threatened to kill Sufia and her children if they opened their mouths about their marriage (Badir).

On December 13, Ishaq (28) approached the court claiming his father. He also requested a DNA test to determine the identity of his father. The court learned of the allegations and issued a subpoena against Badir.

After the matter was published in the media, there was a huge stir throughout Cox’s Bazar, including on social media.

According to local sources in Teknaf, there were several burglaries at the home of Sufis living in Aliabad, in the then Teknaf Union, in early 1992. Sufia’s father was in Saudi Arabia at the time. The young Sufia lived with her mother in a house without men. They felt unsafe due to reckless theft.

When the then president of the Teknaf Union, Ezhar Mia (former father of MP Badir) was informed about the matter, he ordered the Sufis to sell their houses, promising to take refuge in his house. Safia’s family also sold the house according to the president’s instructions.

Later, Badir’s father, Ezhar Mia, sheltered the Sufis in an abandoned house where the trial was taking place at Badir’s house.

Sufia said she used to meet and talk to Badir every day due to her haven with former MP Abdur Rahman Badir. At one point, Badi proposed to her one day. He accepted.

She married Badir on April 5, 1992, according to Islamic rites. Maulvi Abdus Salam, who was working at the time in Abdur Rahman Badi’s family’s residential hotel, Niribili, got married. The doorman of the Ekhlach hotel was the witness of the marriage.

But a few months after the marriage, Badir’s father, Ezhar Mia (Ezahar Company), found out about the marriage. Then Isaac entered her womb.

She added that Bodi first attempted an abortion at the time. If she disagreed, her ex-husband Abdur Rahman Badi and Badir’s father, Ezhar Company, married her to a local bricklayer, threatening to kill her along with her unborn child.

However, Nurul Islam, the simple mason who agreed to marry Sufia in the words of Badir’s father, knew nothing of all this (about marrying Badir and getting pregnant).

Sufia’s current husband, Nurul Islam, claims that former MP Badi cheated on her. He said that Badir’s father, Ezhar Mia, called him one day and said, “I have arranged a girl for you.” I no longer did it because I considered him (the president) as my tutor. Badi was also present at that time. He also asks her to marry Sufia and promises to be by her side forever.

However, two months after the marriage, I found out that my Sufia wife is pregnant. When asked about this, Sufia told me everything. Later, Sufia tried to commit suicide several times.

Nurul Islam said: “I never imagined that such a reality would come to light.” To hide this reality, I fled with my family to Cox’s Bazar and sometimes Chittagong under the threat of Badir.

Both Sufia and Nurul Islam want Ishaq’s paternal identity.

Referring to former MP Abdur Rahman Badi as a fraud, they said: “We have no demands.” I just want his son Isaac to be recognized by his father. Sufia also asked her ex-husband Badir to accept Ishaq as her son.

Abdur Rahman Badir’s mobile phone was called more than once to find out the general situation. He didn’t get the call even though it was ringing. He did not respond to a text message.

However, after the case surfaced in court, when the news spread through the media, Abdur Rahman Badi went to a link on social media and wrote that he (Badi) would accept all of the sons and daughters of Ukhia-Teknaf who would appear in court to claim him as her father. It is unknown at this time what he meant by that.
