Thieves shot dead the Juba League leader in Laxmipur

A Juba League leader named Monir Hossain (35) was beaten to death by robbers in Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. At that time, his wife Milon Begum was attacked and injured. The incident took place in the Andharamanik village of Tewariganj union in Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The injured Milon was rescued in the morning and treated first at Noakhali General Hospital and then sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Monir, son of Ali Ahmed Basu, president of the Juba League, District 7 of the Tewariganj union and Andharmanik village. By profession, he was the head of the land of the brickyard. He has a daughter and three sons.

According to the police and local sources, Monir was a land trader. He used to sell dirt in different brick kilns. On Thursday, the owner of a brick kiln paid him 2 lakh rupees for the land. Since it is Monir’s new home, there is a folding door outside, but the inside door has not been installed yet. The thieves climbed the ladder to the roof of the house on Friday morning. Later they entered the house and tied up the relatives. At one stage, Monir and Milon were accidentally hacked. At that point, the thieves took Monir’s motorcycle, two lakhs of rupees, and the gold decorations of the house. Later, the locals rushed to the scene and rescued the wounded and took them to Noakhali General Hospital. Monir died on the way to the hospital. The injured Milon has been sent to Dhaka for better treatment on the advice of the doctor on duty at the hospital.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Laxmipur Sadar model police station, AKM Azizur Rahman Mia, said Monir was beaten to death while committing a robbery. An attempt is being made to arrest those involved in the incident.
