Dhaka: The Minister of Social Welfare for Expatriates and Employment Abroad, Imran Ahmed, said that arrangements will be made to send 1,000 people abroad from each upazila.

He made the remarks in a press release on the occasion of International Migrants Day in Prabasi Kalyan Bhaban in Eskaton in the capital on Friday (December 16).

Imran Ahmed said that 40 technical training centers (TTCs) are being built. We have submitted 61 more TTC proposals. Once these 61 passes are approved, we will send proposals for a hundred more TTCs so that we can set up a TTC in each upazila. According to the electoral manifesto of the Awami League, we will arrange to send a thousand people from each upazila abroad.

The Minister of Welfare for Expatriates and Employment Abroad added that at the beginning of March it was said that at least one million people would return from abroad. 1 million people but did not return. As far as I know, 3 lakh 6 thousand people have returned to the country. About 60 to 70 percent of workers returning from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have already returned to work.

“I can say something positive about remittances. We are far ahead in the current state of remittances. We are three billion dollars ahead of last year in November of this year. The reality is that if workers stop going abroad, if they all return, surely this drive will not be there. We feel it too. If we all work together, there will be no problem. ‘

Referring to sending workers to Jordan, the minister said that Jordan’s Classic Garments will bring a total of 12,000 workers from our country in December and January. Two thousand garment workers will be hired in December and 10,000 in January. There is more demand for hiring workers abroad.

From Bangladesh’s perspective, on the occasion of International Migrants Day 2020, the theme has been established as ‘Call of the Mujib Year, travel abroad efficiently’.
