The principal of Tanore Abdul Karim Sarkar Government College in Rajshahi has been relieved of his duties for interpreting Ziaur Rahman’s speech instead of Bangabandhu on the Victory Day program.
Tanore Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sushant Kumar Mahato, chairman of the educational institution’s board of directors, confirmed the matter on Thursday night.
He said the investigation has found evidence of Ziaur Rahman’s speech rather than Bangabandhu’s on the Victory Day program. The matter has been investigated under the direction of Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil. Acting Director Abdul Aziz has been relieved of his duties after receiving evidence.
The UN further said that the matter of the interpretation of Ziaur Rahman’s speech has been reported to the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education through the Deputy Commissioner. Additionally, Habibur Rahman, an assistant professor at the educational institution, has assumed responsibility as interim principal.
By the way, when Ziaur Rahman’s speech instead of Bangabandhu’s was heard at the educational institution on the morning of Victory Day, the leaders of the Awami League and allied organizations rushed to the place and stopped playing the speech of Ziaur Rahman. The negligence of the university principal has created extreme anger among the locals.
