A defendant has made a confessional statement under section 164 in court admitting his involvement in the murder of a young man named Jisan Habib (18) in the capital’s Uttara. The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court (CMM) referred five defendants in the same case for questioning on Thursday.
The Deputy Inspector (SI) of the Crime and Information Department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Jalal Uddin, confirmed the information at first glance.
According to judicial sources, one of the defendants named Sumon gave a confessional statement in court today. Additionally, the five defendants arrested in the murder case were brought before the CMM court in Dhaka and held in pre-trial detention for 10 days, police said. The court granted a five-day preventive detention to the defendant after hearing from both parties. The five defendants are the merchant from Jahangir alias Hridoy, Maryland. Rakib, Maryland Tanvir Rahman Nehal, Md. Jihad and Md. Nurul Islam Rabbi. In addition, the court also ordered to send another defendant named Swapan to jail after his pre-trial detention.
On December 10, Jisan Habib was stabbed to death in the Abdullahpur area of Uttara in the capital. His home in the village is Noakhali. This year he passed the high school exam from a local school.
