Narayanganj: The Rapid Action Battalion has recovered money snatched from the doll of a tabloid NGO worker in Narsingdi. Rubel and Badshah, the main defendants in the case, and their two accomplices have also been arrested.

The detainees are Rubel Mia (21), Abdul Kala Mia (22), Mahabuba Hazar Marina (22) and Mithi Begum (23).
Of the 2 lakh 83 lakhs seized, 1 lakh 91,500 rupees has been recovered. A vest, mug and the victim’s mobile phone were recovered.
Their questioning and preliminary investigation revealed that on December 15, NGO worker Shanta Akhter (31) was returning to the city’s Bajir union office after recovering a loan installment from the Paschimkanda Para area in the city of Narsingdi. Arrested defendants Rubel Mia and Abdul Badsha Mia lay in front of the West Kandapara Government Women’s College below the Narsingdi District Sadar Police Station, according to the previous plan.
Upon arriving at the scene, the victim stopped the NGO worker’s rickshaw and tried to snatch his toiletry bag full of Rubel money. When the NGO worker wanted to hold his bag of money, his colleague Badsha hit the NGO worker’s left wrist with the knife in his hand and cut his wrist.
Leaving the woman in a bloody state, she grabbed a bag full of money and fled and hid in Rubel’s father-in-law’s home in Brakshanpara, below the Narsingdi Sadar Police Station. At home, the NGO worker’s toiletry bag was set on fire. The images from the side CCTV camera recorded the scene of the robbery. Later, when it was broadcast in different media, there was a stir throughout the country. During preliminary questioning, the defendants Rubel Mia and Abdul Badshah Mia confessed to being involved in cutting off the wrists of NGO workers and snatching handbags from them.
According to the RAB, all those arrested are professional thieves and are involved in various antisocial and criminal activities. Among them, four cases are pending on behalf of Rubel, eight on behalf of Badshah and two on behalf of Mithi Begum.
