Vice President M Sultan Ahmed said he saw the two men in their shoes and informed the Upazila Nirbahi officer.

Witnesses said that a candle-lighting ceremony was organized in the Shaheed Minar in memory of the martyrs at the initiative of the Shajahanpur Upazila administration on Monday night. Upazila Officer Nirbahi Mahmuda Khatun, Upazila President Sohrab Hossain Channu, Vice President M Sultan Ahmed, Vice President for Women Hefazat Ara Mira, Deputy Commissioner for Upazila (land) Ashiq Khan, Shajahanpur Police Station OC Azim Uddin , Upazila Awami League Secretary General, Talebul Islam, and others were present at the event. The photo was later removed from Facebook.

Upazila Awami League President Dilip Kumar Chowdhury said he was not present at the event. But disappointed to hear.

He said that the martyrs have been insulted by climbing the altar with their shoes on. If the facts are true, those involved should receive exemplary punishment.

Gaur Gopal Goswami, a former commander of the Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad, told reporters that the shoe was a tragic incident. Punitive measures must be taken against those involved. Additionally, many who did not want to reveal their identities expressed their disgust at the incident.

In this regard, Upazila (Lands) Deputy Commissioner Ashiq Khan said that when he was called in to take pictures, he accidentally got on Shaheed Minar with unintentional shoes.
