The Information Minister asked BNP to apologize to the nation for the negative publicity about the Padma Bridge. Hasan Mahmud. He said that there were many conspiracies for the Padma Bridge otherwise the BNP was involved in that conspiracy.
He made the remarks in response to a question from journalists after a meeting with the French ambassador at his office at the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 15).
The Information Minister said there have been many conspiracies to prevent the Padma Bridge from being built. He was associated with the BNP. Today, the Padma Bridge is visible as an asset to the state. The government should thank BNP for that.
In response to the observation of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the Padma Bridge is not ancestral property of anyone, the Information Minister said that the Padma Bridge is definitely state property. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, has linked this state ownership to the state.
He further said: “I respect BNP leader Begum Khaleda Zia. She said that the Awami League will not be able to build the Padma bridge. And even if the Awami League builds a patchwork bridge, no one will go through that bridge. So I asked the question, will BNP cross the bridge now or will it come down?
He said, it is understood from Mr. Fakhrul’s words, they will cross the bridge. But before that, the government should thank you. At the same time, they must apologize to the nation for all their conspiracies and negative propaganda.
Calling BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, a “sold-out politician in the politics market,” he said leaders like Fakhrul Saheb have been negotiated during Ziaur Rahman’s tenure. During Zia’s tenure, politicians who defected from the party used to sell their hats, but many have been sold in those places. Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is also a politician who is sold on the politics market.
Dr. Hassan said that at that time a wealthy class was created, a class of bank robbers was created. Bank loans were then made to BNP-backed entrepreneurs, BNP leaders, whose loans were not repaid. The loan would have been made knowing that the loan would not have to be repaid. In other words, the looting began during Zia’s tenure. He said the looting was completed in the time of Khaleda Zia.
