Mushfiqur fined by BCB for abusing Nasum

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the country’s cricket governing body, has punished Beximco Dhaka captain Mushfiqur Rahim for abusing his teammate Nasum Ahmed on the field.

Mushfiqur has been fined 25 percent of the match fee for attacking Nasum during the match. Mushfiqur was accused of violating the Contact Code by behaving unexpectedly with Nasum. The BCB confirmed Mushfiqur’s fine in a press release on Tuesday (December 15). In addition to the fine, a point of demerit has been added next to Mushfiqur’s name. According to tournament rules, a total of four demerit points will result in a one-match ban.

Mushfiqur has pleaded not guilty and a formal hearing was not required. Under Mushfiqur’s offense, a player can be fined 50 percent of the match fee, adding two demerit points. However, match referee Rakibul Hasan was not so strict with Mushfiqur. Field officials Gazi Sohail and Mahfuzur Rahman, third referee Masudur Rahman Mukul and fourth official Mujahiduzzaman Swapan brought charges against Mushfiqur.
