An eight-year-old girl was raped while listening to a waz mahfil in Bogra’s Dhunat upazila. After the rape, the malefactors killed her by suffocation. The incident took place on Monday night (December 14). Police recovered his body from a bamboo bush near the mahfil around 1 pm.
The deceased was identified as Nasratpur of the Choukibari union in Bari upazila. He is a second-class student at the Panchthupi-Nasratpur government primary school. His body was sent to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra for autopsy from the Dhunat Police Station around 9 am on Tuesday (December 15).
Speaking with the boy’s relatives, it emerged that both parents work in a garment factory in Dhaka. The boy lived with his grandparents. Waz went to listen to the mahfil with them on Monday night. He left the pandal around 10pm to buy chips. His body was found naked in a nearby bamboo bush as he did not return even after a long time.
Later, the police from the Dhunat police station came and recovered his body. Witnesses believe she was strangled to death after being raped.
Dhunat Police Station OC Kripa Sindhu Bala said the boy’s murder was under investigation. We continue our efforts to arrest the culprits unraveling the murder mystery.
