Previously, on December 2, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic cooking gas cylinder in Kolkata rose Tk 50. However, after that, until December 14, all Calcutta customers who bought LPG cylinders, like last month, received a subsidy of Tk 19.57 in their designated bank account. According to customers, when the price of a cylinder has gone up Rs 50, why don’t they get a Rs 69.56 subsidy? As a result, many consumers are concerned that the central government is pushing for a subsidy for LPG cylinders out the back door.

State-owned oil trading companies declined to comment. The only claim from the companies is that since the subsidy money is provided by the central government, they know nothing about it.

By the way, state oil trading companies have not reported on the price of subsidized cylinders in recent months. As a result, customers who receive a cooking gas subsidy will not be able to find out how much money will be credited to their bank account as soon as the money is credited to the account.
