In Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur, a teenage housewife was allegedly beaten and injured after her parents were tied up and gang-raped. The incident took place at the house of the housewife’s father in the Char Neyamat village of Char Algi Union of the Upazila late on Sunday night. The victim’s father filed a lawsuit against the local Miraj Hossain and three other unidentified people around 8 pm yesterday. Hours earlier, the defendant Miraj was arrested. According to the police, this infernal torture occurred due to a family conflict.
According to the police, the girl fell asleep with her relatives after dinner as usual. Late at night, a group of unidentified criminals broke the door and entered the house and bound the hands and feet of family members, including parents. Then they raped the housewife in a room. After the rape, the criminals beat and crushed her on various parts of her body, including her head, and fled. As they fled, they also took money, gold ornaments, and other valuables from the house. After hearing the screams of the family, the locals rescued the girl and admitted her to the Upazila Health Complex. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
A close relative of the housewife said that she married in another area of the same upazila a year ago. A few days ago he came to visit his father’s house.
Citing the tortured woman, a police officer said all four were wearing masks. When Miraj’s mask was removed at the time of the incident, he recognized it. About Mirage is the brother-in-law of the victim. They (the woman’s brother) are suing the Miraj for various family matters. Because of this, the incident may have taken place in a planned manner under Miraj’s leadership.
Laxmipur (Circle Sadar) Additional Police Superintendent Mimtanur Rahman spoke to the victim yesterday at Sadar Hospital. He told Kaler Kantha: “Miraj’s mask was removed while drinking at the time of the incident. The housewife was able to identify it. The cause of the accident is not yet known. The matter is being seriously investigated.
Char Algi Union Parishad President Zakir Hossain Liton Chowdhury said: “We are saddened by this unexpected incident. I demand to arrest those involved quickly and bring them under the law. So that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
