The postponed elections of the Chittagong City Corporation (CHC) will be held on January 26.

He said the election will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each center will be selected through EVM. Candidates who are not running for mayor have no chance of being re-nominated. There will be a new schedule only for reserved council seats in District 7 and General Districts 30, 36 and 40. The EC will give them time. However, those who are already submitting nomination papers will no longer have to pay.

Previously, the election of the Chittagong City Corporation was held on April 28, 2015. The term of the elected corporation ended on August 5. Under electoral law, elections were mandatory within 180 days prior to August 5. According to the EC decision, the city was scheduled to go to the polls on March 29.

But the Electoral Commission subsequently postponed the election due to the coronavirus (Covid-19). The Electoral Commission has announced the date of the polls as people have adapted to the situation in Corona.
