Dhaka District Judge Shawkat Ali Chowdhury approved the order on Monday after hearing the admissibility of a case brought by Facebook authorities.
The next date for the case is March 9. Until then, the ban will be in effect.
The judge asked the defendants to explain in the next 15 days why a permanent ban on the use of the domain would not be imposed.
Mokshedul Islam, a lawyer appointed by the Facebook authorities, filed the case against A-One Software Limited and SK Shamsul Alam in the Dhaka District Court of Justice and Sessions on 23 November. The defendants were asked to pay 50,000 in damages.
According to Facebook authorities, the name Facebook.com was registered on January 14, 2010 by the Bangladesh Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.
In the same year, SK Shamsul Islam acquired a domain called Facebook.com.bd from Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL).

Recently, when the sale of the domain ‘Facebook.com.bd’ was announced, the Facebook authorities took notice. The domain is valued at 8 million.

“But I don’t think I got any notice from Facebook. If I could, I’d definitely go for this, I’d definitely take it.
When asked if BTCL would map domains now if someone wanted to map a domain using Facebook or a famous brand, Rafiqul Matin said: “Of course, no one will get a mapping. If you try now, no one will find you. Now we don’t offer any domain names. domain of any known brand “.
