Girlfriend murdered: Bangladeshi young man executed in Singapore

A judicial commissioner in Singapore rendered the verdict on Monday, according to a Straits Times report.

Selim Ahmed, a 31-year-old Bangladeshi painter. And his Indonesian girlfriend Nuridaiyati Bharatono Surat worked as a domestic servant.

According to a Straits Times report, the Indonesian girl had an affair with another Bangladeshi. Selim killed him on December 30, 2016 in a room at the Golden Dragons Hotel in Gailang, as he refused to leave the relationship.

According to the newspaper, when the judge found him guilty and sentenced him to death, Selim was indifferent.

According to the details of the case, Selim and Nuridaiyati fell in love after meeting in May 2012 and at one point decided to get married.

But in mid-2016, Nuridaiyati had an affair with another Bangladeshi worker named Samijur Rahman Samin. Selim had an argument with Nuridaiyati about this and Nuridaiyati admitted a new relationship.

Selim then asked his mother in the field to see the bride for her wedding. After finding the bride, the marriage was arranged in February 2019. But before that, Selim reconciled with Nuridaiyati again.

But there were occasional fights between them over Nuridaiti’s other relationship. In one incident, Selim took a towel from his girlfriend’s face in a hotel room, according to case documents.

In late 2016, Nuridaiyati met another Bangladeshi named Mohammad Abu Hanif on Facebook. At one point he informed Hanif about his relationship with Selim and promised to end the relationship.

On December 9 of that year, she told Selim about her new boyfriend and advised him to return to Bangladesh and marry the bride arranged by his mother. Later, on December 23, Nuridaati said by phone that she had severed ties with Selim.
