Later, Sangeeta Imam, co-secretary general of the organization, told reporters: “The defeated power fundamentalists of 1971 have now laid their hands on my culture. Bangladesh is now moving in the opposite direction to the Sonar Bangla ideology: secularism, democracy and Bengali nationalism.
“It just came to our knowledge then. The fundamentalist group must be eradicated now. We will be strong remembering them in the day of martyred intellectuals. I will build a strong resistance against the fundamentalists.”
He called for the inclusion of biographies of intellectuals in textbooks to raise awareness among the new generation.
Coming to pay his respects, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said: “Even after 50 years of independence, communal forces of evil sometimes come to the fore. They try to attack our culture with various disguises. Those who gave the fatwa in 1971 that all freedom fighters are infidels are committing these misdeeds.
“The unity and solidarity of the pro-liberation forces are very necessary in the current context. Many educational institutions do not consciously sing the national anthem. We have to make sure that the national anthem is sung in educational institutions where the anthem is not sung. national. Because it is an insult to our freedom and sovereignty. This is not acceptable in any way. “

On the eve of the centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth and the Golden Jubilee of independence, Akhtaruzzaman, a professor in the Department of Islamic History and Culture at Dhaka University, described the display of communal power as a “momentary affair.”
He said: “The intellectuals were secular, full of human values. Most of the people in Bangladesh are not communal. That is why the place of the communal extremist group has never been in this country, nor will it be. These can come up for a while.

For the past six years, Joybangla, a theater in the Chittagong region, has been performing a play called ‘Kadamakha Microbus’ at the site of the Rayerbazar massacre on the day of the martyred intellectuals.
Farida Yasmin Ankhi, a playwright of this group, said: “Not only the murder of intellectuals, the birth story of all Bangladesh should be presented more and more. Freedom fighter Abdur Rob said the trial of those who opposed Bangladesh during the liberation war is still unfinished. They need to be judged.
“We want Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to end this unfinished trial.”
Abdur Rashid, an activist with the Center for Law and Arbitration-ASK, said: “Our hope is that this country is free from communalism. The consciousness of the liberation war will rise. Gender equality will continue in this country. We want to see that environment. ”
Some students and teachers from Qawmi Madrasa were also seen paying tribute to the martyred intellectuals. One such person from Kamarpur in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon is Marufuzzaman, a teacher from Qaumi Madrasa.
He told bdnews24.com: “Intellectuals and freedom fighters gave their lives for this country during the 1971 war of independence. I am here today to remember their contribution.”
