Nilphamari Court of Judges (PP) prosecutor Akshay Kumar Roy said the case has been pending in the Sessions and Additional District Court of Judges for nearly three years pending the formation of charges. The case did not advance because there was no judge in that court for so long. Two of the 206 defendants died.

The bodies of three defendants were recovered after the attack

Police have recovered the bodies of three defendants in two cases following the attack on the convoy. The body of Golam Rabbani, president of Laxmichap Union BNP, the main defendant in the case, was recovered from the Gochamari bridge on the Nilphamari-Domar road in Palashbari Union on January 18, 2014.

Police recovered the body of Atiqul Islam, deputy general secretary of Tupamari Union Chhatra Dal, from the Syedpur ring road side on 20 January. Subsequently, the body of Shibir Mahidul Islam activist (28) was recovered from Mokamatla in Shibganj upazila of Bogra. On February 1, 2014, the body of an unidentified defendant was recovered and buried. Mahidul was identified by his relatives on March 4 of the same year after seeing the photograph of the body. Mahidul was a senior in the Department of Language (Persian) at Rajshahi University.
