The RAB has said that the assassination of retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was planned. The murder was carried out in a planned manner. Consequently, the charge sheet for this case was also delivered, said the interested party.
According to RAB sources, a charge sheet has been filed against 15 defendants, including the firing of Teknaf Police Station (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das, in the murder case.
A charge sheet in the Sinha murder case was filed in court by Cox’s Bazar Chief Judge Tamanna Farah around 10:15 a.m. Sunday. At that time, the court received a charge sheet from the investigating officer.
Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s law and media branch, told reporters that retired Major Sinha Rashed had been killed after finding evidence of OC Pradeep’s involvement in the yaba trade. He said this in a briefing on the charge sheet for the Sinha Rashed murder case.
Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s law and media branch, said retired Major Sinha went to Teknaf to work on YouTube. Rashed Khan. Going there, he learned about OC Pradeep’s criminal empire. The assassination was planned when OC Pradeep wanted to interview Major Sinha about the yaba trade.
He further said that OC Pradeep was the mastermind behind the murder. Later, a drug rescue drama was staged with the rest of the defendants, including Liaquat.
Later, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, the older sister of retired elder Sinha, brought a murder case to court. In the case brought to court on August 5, he charged former Teknaf police officer OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara Research Center Inspector Liakat Ali and nine other police officers.
The RAB subsequently assumed responsibility for investigating the four cases. At one point, the RAB arrested 14 people, including Pradeep Kumar Das and Liaquat Ali, in the incident. They have 11 policemen and 3 villagers.
The RAB has given a final report having found nothing of truth in the complaints raised in the investigation of the three cases presented by the police. The final report of the three cases was presented to the Cox’s Bazar court last Thursday, according to the RAB.
Different police tactics to cover up murders
Also, on the same day (July 31) around 10 pm on the way to Cox’s Bazar from Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive, Major (Retd.) Sinha Md. Rashed was shot dead by Inspector Liaquat Ali. The police arrested Shahedul Islam (Sifat) who was with Sinha at the time. The police then entered the Nilima compound where Sinha was staying and arrested two members of her video team, Shipra Debnath and Tahsin Rifat Nur. After releasing Nur, the police arrested Shipra and Sifat and sent them to jail. The two were later released on bail.
Meanwhile, a total of four separate cases were registered at the Teknaf and Ramu police stations in connection with the murder of Sinha. Immediately after the incident, the police closed three cases. Two of the cases were registered at the Teknaf Police Station and one at the Ramu Police Station. Two of the three cases involved drug possession and an assault on the police.
The evidence obtained by the RAB
After presenting the charge sheet, the investigating officer of Sinha’s murder case said, the chief assistant superintendent of police said. Khairul Islam told reporters that the three cases of drugs and assault on the police in Sinha’s murder had not been found to be true. That is why the RAB has delivered the final report to the court on Thursday (December 10) since the complaints raised in the investigation of the three cases filed by the police did not turn out to be true. Additionally, the case brought by Sinha’s older sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, has been investigated and a charge sheet has been filed.
In the charge sheet filed with the court, charges have been brought against 15 people, including former Teknaf Police Station Police Officer Pradeep Kumar Das and Baharchhara Research Center Inspector Liakat Ali. Of the 15 defendants on the charge sheet, 14 are in jail. One of the defendants is Assistant Deputy Inspector (ASI) Sagar Dey from the Teknaf Police Station.
He added that on July 3, retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan along with three associates went to the Nilima Resort in Cox’s Bazar to film a documentary about a travel show on a YouTube channel called ‘Just Go’. The news reached Pradeep Kumar, the then OC of Teknaf. Since then, OC Pradeep has told police subordinates: “The video party must leave here at any cost.” Since then, Sinha has been under the surveillance of Inspector Liaquat and SI Nandadulal.
That is why their movements have been monitored since the morning of July 31. As a result, OC Pradeep was informed at the end of a law enforcement “tree planting” program that Major Sinha Rashed had gone to Shamlapur Hill in Teknaf in a private car. At the time, the inspector in charge of the Baharchhara camp, Liaquat Ali Sinha, was keeping an eye on the source.
